No Sewing Week

This is our guild's quiet week, with no sewing session. So everyone has time to work on their projects, ready to bring to our Christmas meeting.

Our December meeting is one week early, on Wednesday 10 December. There will be a Christmas dinner at 5.30 pm. Please let Heather Campbell know if you plan to attend.

Then the meeting will begin at 7.00 pm. Santa Claus will visit - if you wish to participate, bring a wrapped gift with a value up to $10.00 that has something to do with quilting.

Hope to see everyone next week!

Happy Summer Quilting

Our June meeting is over so we are now into the summer quilting season. Meetings and sewing sessions will recommence in September.

Becky Daley was congratulated on winning the Viewers' Choice at our Quilt Show. It was such a beautiful quilt - well done Becky!

Next season, we will have a block of the month, so look out for the details at our September meeting. There will be two blocks each month and the samples will be in Christmas fabrics, however, it does not have to be done in Christmas colours. it is up to you!

Janice d'Eon will offer a workshop on Wednesday 24 September - String Star. Janice had a String Star quilt at our quilt show which was much admired. Sign up at our September meeting.

Shelley Tye will offer another Quilt As You Go workshop, as her first one was so successful. This one will be held on Saturday 4 October. The String Star quilt would be a good candidate for this method. Again, sign up at our September meeting. We already have several people who have signed up so it may come down to whoever pays their money first!

The UFO challenge was won by Rita Baudoux - she won $34. Well done. And congratulations to everyone who finished some UFOs.

There were many door prize giveaways at our June meeting and many people went home with an extra something.

The draw was held for our Guild Quilt - the winner was Dale Walker, who is Carol Francis' sister. Congratulations.

And once again, the member who sold the most quilt raffle tickets was Rita - where would we be without you, Rita?

New executive and committee members were elected:
President -- Kate Anderson
Treasurer -- Marlene Langille
Lunch -- Maureen Roddick and Dot Kelly
Library -- Sharon Smith
Fundraising -- Maria Benoit and Claudette Campbell

This donation is totally voluntary.

Quilt Canada will be held in Niagara, Ontario, in June this year. The area is well known for beautiful scenery, many lakes, the St Lawrence seaway, Niagara Falls and also for many wineries. Gift wine bags will be presented to the delegates. If you wish to contribute a wine bag, a pattern can be found on the Canadian Quilters' Association web site:

Every member is encouraged to make a pin cushion and a Christmas tree ornament and bring them to our May meeting and also, of course, to our Quilt Show on Saturday 31 May 2014.
